IQNA – The root cause of many undesirable emotions and feelings is the lack of self-esteem.

Holy Quran

If someone recognizes that his true superiority and dignity is linked with faith in God and not originating from outside elements, he would be secure against negative emotions in all events.

Belief in man's divinely given status can help us gain the power to control his personal abilities and prevent various events and failures from having a destructive effect on his mental state.

The Holy Quran says: “Do not be discouraged or grieved. You alone will have true dignity if you only are true believers.” (Verse 139 of Surah Al Imran)

Huzn (sadness) happens to one when he loses something or fails to have something he likes to have. The phrase “do not be discouraged” teaches Muslims that if they have faith in God, they should not allow their resolve to be weakened or if they have failed to achieve victory against the enemies, they should not get disappointed, because faith is with them and will give them the upper hand.

In fact, many negative emotions and feelings originate from the lack of self-esteem. Recognizing that his true superiority and dignity is linked with faith in God and not originating from outside elements, one would be secure against negative emotions as he keeps calm in all undesirable events.

In Verse 65 of Surah Yunus, “Do not let their speech grieve you. All might belongs to Allah. He is the Hearing, the Knowing,” the Quran stressed that all victory and power belongs to God and no one else. The verse tells the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that what the infidels say and their denial of the truth have no effect and his dignity and status and, therefore, there is no need for grieving.
